We are looking for reliable candidates to join our team for the upcoming construction season.

Positions Include:

As an employee at Minnesota Roadways Co., you will work with our existing office staff to support our Estimators/Project Managers with project related office tasks. Your time would be split between project management tasks and business operations tasks. This position, although fast paced with lots of hard work and determination, could be a prerequisite for career advancement. Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist Project Managers in reviewing bid specifications and bid submittal.
  • Research and assist Project Managers to obtain required project permits.
  • Assist Project Managers with routine utility locates.
  • Perform accurate quantity take offs and verify accuracy.
  • Assist in assembling project estimates and proposals.
  • Obtain and compile material submittals for upcoming projects.
  • Perform project setup on awarded projects (work orders, sub-contractor/material contracts, and scheduling).
  • Participate in scheduling meetings and assist with scheduling tasks.
  • Verify accuracy of employee time records.
  • Record and process seasonal team member time off requests.
  • Assist with daily project costings.
  • Assist in reviewing supplier and subcontractor invoices.
  • Involved with pay applications and monthly invoicing.
  • Follow-up on payment schedules and past due invoices.
  • Obtain and compile project closeout documents required for project completion.
  • Occasionally answer company phones and take messages.
  • Hours: 50 – 60 hours per week.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to Increase hours during the construction season.
  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret plans and specifications a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiently compose emails to customers and governmental agencies.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook, Sage Contractor, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign and general use of electronic files.
  • Clear understanding and strong skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to talk intelligently and tactfully to coworkers and customers.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Commitment to all safety policies and procedures
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections
  • Act and drive in a professional manner at all times
  • Hauling heavy equipment: mills, excavators, dozers, pavers & oversize loads
  • The drive to produce quality work with little supervision
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Asphalt experience is a plus, but not required if you have construction experience.
  • A CLEAN Class A CDL
  • Tanker endorsements are a plus but not required
  • Successfully pass a D.O.T. physical & pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to work overtime (six days a week)

The ideal applicant would be motivated and meet all requirements below with a back ground in construction. This position requires the ability to take direction and pay attention to detail while working long hours.

Work may include:
  • Digout prep
  • Excavation
  • Rough and Fine Grading
  • Dozer, Grader, Blade Experience
Responsibilities will include:
  • Commitment to all safety policies and procedures
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections
  • Act and drive in a professional manner at all times
  • The drive to produce quality work with little supervision
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 3 years Heavy Equipment Operating experience
  • A CLEAN Class A CDL is a plus, but not required
  • Successfully pass a D.O.T. physical & pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to work overtime (six days a week)

The ideal applicant would be motivated and meet all requirements below with a back ground in construction. This position requires the ability to take direction and pay attention to detail while working long hours.

Requirements Include:
  • Minimum of 2 years concrete experience.
  • Experience pouring curb, flatwork and pedestrian ramps
  • Sufficient skid loader experience and/or mini excavator experience.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and perform manual labor regularly.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • ACI Concrete Flatwork Finishing Certification is a plus but not required
  • Catch basin experience is a plus, but not required if you have concrete experience.
  • Successfully pass a D.O.T. physical & pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to work overtime (six days a week)
