PARKING LOT RECONSTRUCTION

56 Years

Minnewashta Public School Parking Lot Expansion

Minnewashta Public Schools has the room to expand their parking lot but because of their environmentally sensitive location it was decided that all storm water runoff from the new lot be disposed of near its source rather than conveying it to a storm drain system. Storm chambers were the chosen design method. This water sensitive natural design approach aims to mimic the natural storm water flow characteristics that existed before urban development. The Storm chamber system improves water quality through the same process as a septic drain field. The new parking lot and landscaping are installed over the top and standard catch basins deliver the run off to the chambers. This project was started in 2008 and will be completed the Summer of 2009.
